Author: SoulTrotteR
TUSK INTERNATIONAL THEATER COMPANY
CAST : Gregory Cox, Lionel Leeuwin, Philip Rachid, Emmeline Prior
DIRECTOR : Ellis van Maarseveen
PRODUCER : Eelske van Holk - Stet

The story
Philosopher of law, Hugo Robinson is washed ashore on a deserted island after,
having been thrown off his luxury yacht by Somali pirates.
He thinks he’s alone and starts to contemplate his loneliness
and his life by means he knows well: through philosphy.
He’s interrupted in his magnificent thought-patterns
by the arrival of one of the pirates, Osman.
Hugo soon discovers that Osman is a terrific talker
who regularly shows the back of his tongue.
The ‘island’ is not as deserted as we think,
because Rhazi, a Kurdish man, appears out of nowhere
and offers the other men his own poetic but gripping philosophy on life.
When a mysterious woman shows up,
the connections between the characters change and life is turned upside down.
Are these characters figments of Hugo’s imagination,
or is he actually being confronted with his own way of life by real people?
New Crusoe is at times poetic but the subject hits home, and it sometimes hits hard.
No fear, if a Samsonite suitcase and a Bounty bar are also involved,
the play must also generate some humour…
